Ch. 2　The Inevitable Separation

Part 1

“Reunited with Friends”

At a sun-shone corner in the underground Mech City, Enoch placed fresh flowers in front of the tombstone and got down on one knee. Though there was no corpse in the tomb, Enoch simply wanted to do something to commemorate his friend.

His red eyes were filled with sorrow, but he kept his back straight unyieldingly.
Enoch: “Glauox… I will inherit your will and protect the land.”
???: Enoch—!

Detecting a girl’s voice in the distance, Enoch looked up and saw 5 people approaching. Surprised, he made his way to them.

Enoch: Ingrid! And you guys… Everyone is alright…

The crowd was the agents from Charlouette the Magic Agency. Enoch came to the tower with them, but an accident drove them apart. After their reunion, they helped Enoch overcome numerous adversities. At last, they defended against foreign gods like Aether near the magic circle in the Grand Hall, so that Enoch could proceed to the other end of Heaven and confront Khaos.

Qingxia: Of course, I won’t allow my lovely babies to get hurt. Isn’t that right, Xilocient?
Xilocient: Yes, luckily, our principal is safe.
Ingrid: No, we aren’t safe just yet! There’s a crisis looming.
Enoch: Huh! What…what happened!
Mephibo: The demons… One of the demon tribes broke the defense line. They are now under the Enochian tower!
Enoch: The demons must have crossed the border when we were busy fighting Khaos… but why did they come to the Enochian Tower?
Madam Heidi: Hmm… You’re right. The Enochian Tower is the passage to Heaven. They probably should go to other places instead to avoid retaliation.
???: Because… the thing that they want is in the tower.

Enoch and his crew heard an unfamiliar female voice, but no one was in sight. As they observed their surroundings alertly and prepared themselves for a fight, Enoch asked in a low voice.

Enoch: Who? Who’s this?
???: You can put off your guard. We’re not your enemies.

As her sound echoed, four puffs of light descended from mid-air and floated in front of Enoch. Eventually, they turned into four humans amidst the brilliant haloes. 

Enoch: You are… the heroes who climbed the tower in the past! Grand Sage Molly, Dragon Rider Sean, Druid Duncan, and Necromancer Endor…
Molly: The child who was chosen by destiny, and who possesses the power to bridge the past and the future.
Sean: We are summoned to assist you and your companions in protecting the continent!
Duncan: We missed the chance in the past, causing millions to suffer, even nature shed tears.
Endor: But our souls are perpetuated, and we’ve taken an oath to fight for the world again. 
Ingrid: You just said the demons wanted something in the tower. What is it?
Molly: In the old days, the demons came for the power of the tower. We climbed up to stop them. Though there were some quarrels, we did seal the power and brought peace to the world temporarily. 
Sean: In short, we can’t let them have the power; our world will be ruined!
Enoch: I get it… But the turbulence of elements must be solved as well. We must wake Pompeii the machina up!
Endor: Right, I can feel it through the spirits that the elements are in an anomalous situation.
Duncan: Yes, I can feel that too. The power of the continent heaves its sigh as nature is overlooked. We must act now.
Ingrid: Let’s split into different teams as we did before. Where’re you going, Enoch?
